Kathryn White is Aylesbury Labour Party's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. That means she will be representing the Labour Party in Aylesbury at the next General Election, which is due to take place before June 2010.
Kathryn was born in the Royal Bucks Hospital in Aylesbury and grew up in the town, attending local state schools. She studied History at Balliol College, Oxford. For many years, Kathryn worked in NEXT in the Hale Leys shopping centre as a part-time shop assistant, to support her financially during her studies. She is a proud member of Unite the Union.
In 2003 and 2004, Kathryn worked in some of the poorest parts of Bangalore, India, for an education charity. Upon her return to the UK she studied law and she now works in the areas of education and employment law.
Kathryn joined the Labour Party as a student. She is also a member of the Co-operative Party and the Fabian Society and has written articles and organised events on her key areas of interest: education, international development and social justice.
Kathryn is passionate about getting more people involved in local and national politics, particularly those traditionally under-represented such as women and people from minority ethnic communities. She is a trustee of the Fawcett Society.
In 2008 Kathryn and her husband, Jonathan, worked as volunteers in the United States on Barack Obama's presidential election campaign.
