Visiting Bucks New University recently Andrew Lomas welcomed the support that the government is giving to local workers and businesses.
To support people facing redundancy and new graduates wanting to find their first job, £50 million has been identified to help institutions such as Bucks New University provide swift and responsive help to both employers and employees at this difficult time.
Commenting on the plans, Andrew said:
“This downturn is one of the most severe we’ve experienced for some time: it’s important that the government responds to the challenges that this represents, and I’m proud to say that rather than letting things run their course as the Tories would do, Labour is providing real help now.
“Specifically, this money allows employers to choose to train people rather than make them redundant; provides for advice and training for newly unemployed professionals to reskill them for new careers; supports new graduates to get advice, training and work experience; and supports businesses to get the skills they need.” .
